Optometrists and dispensing opticians: CPD audit period 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2027
For optometrists and dispensing opticians registered in Ireland, the audit period on CORU's CPD Audit page runs from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2027 (24 months), and the audit call begins on 1 April 2027. You need at least 30 CPD credits in every 12-month period.

The audit page lists one row for the optical register. We read it as covering both optical professions; check your board's notice if you are unsure.
What this means for your log
- Log every activity with its date. Only activities dated from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2027 belong to this audit period; nothing carries forward from before it.
- One hour of new or enhanced learning is one credit, and you may claim a fraction of an hour. You decide the number, and the reflection should grow with it.
- Only registrants on the register for the whole period are eligible for the routine audit. If you joined part way through, start your CPD now anyway: the requirement applies from the day you register.
- Selection is random. If you are selected you have 30 days to submit through the registrant portal, so keep the four parts written as you go rather than at the end.
